Phone Health & Limits
WhatsApp monitors how customers interact with your messages to determine your phone number’s health, quality rating, and messaging limits. These metrics are visible on both the Dashboard and the WhatsApp Configuration page.
Health Status
Your phone number’s health indicates whether it’s in good standing:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Available | Your number is healthy and can send messages normally |
| Flagged | Your number has quality issues — messaging limits may be reduced |
| Restricted | Your number is temporarily restricted from sending messages |
Quality Rating
Quality is based on how customers respond to your messages over the past 7 days:
| Rating | Meaning |
|---|---|
| High | Customers are engaging positively with your messages |
| Medium | Some negative signals detected — review your messaging |
| Low | High block/report rate — take action to improve |
Quality is affected by:
- Block rate — How often customers block your number
- Report rate — How often customers report your messages as spam
- Template quality — Performance of individual message templates
Messaging Tier (Limits)
Your messaging tier determines how many unique customers you can message in a 24-hour period:
| Tier | Limit |
|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 1,000 unique customers/day |
| Tier 2 | 10,000 unique customers/day |
| Tier 3 | 100,000 unique customers/day |
| Unlimited | No limit |
Messaging limits only apply to business-initiated conversations (sending the first message). Customer-initiated conversations don’t count toward your limit.
How Tiers Increase
Your tier automatically increases when you:
- Maintain high quality over time
- Consistently reach your current tier’s limit
- Have a verified Meta Business Account
How Tiers Decrease
Your tier may decrease if:
- Your quality rating drops to Low
- Your number gets Flagged
- You receive a high number of blocks or reports
Throughput
Throughput determines how fast messages are delivered:
| Speed | Description |
|---|---|
| Standard | Default messaging speed |
| High | Faster delivery for high-volume senders |
Monitoring Health
You can monitor your phone health in two places:
- Dashboard — The WhatsApp Channel widget shows health, quality, and throughput at a glance
- Channels > WhatsApp — The configuration table shows all metrics for each phone number
If your quality drops to Low, take immediate action: review your messaging content, reduce message frequency, and ensure customers have opted in. See Best Practices for tips.
