Custom Attributes

Attributes are fields that store information about your contacts. Aeternitychat comes with default attributes, and you can create custom ones to track any data relevant to your business.

Default Attributes

Every contact has these built-in fields:

  • Name — Customer’s display name
  • Phone Number — Their WhatsApp number
  • Channel — The messaging platform they’re on
  • First Contacted — When they first messaged you
  • Opt In — Whether they’ve opted in to marketing messages

Custom Attributes

Custom attributes let you store additional data like:

  • Customer type (e.g., VIP, Regular, New)
  • Location or city
  • Product interests
  • Account ID from your own system
  • Any other business-specific data

Creating Custom Attributes

  1. Go to Settings > Attributes
  2. Click Create Attribute
  3. Enter a name and select the data type
  4. The attribute is now available on all contact profiles

Data Types

Custom attributes support different data types:

  • Text — Free-form text
  • Number — Numeric values
  • Boolean — True/false values
  • Date — Date values

Using Attributes

Custom attributes appear on Contact Profiles and can be used to:

  • Store data captured from workflows (e.g., answers to questions)
  • Filter contacts in the Customers table
  • Build segment conditions
  • Personalize campaign messages

Attributes set during a workflow (using the Ask a Question block or variable assignment) are automatically saved to the contact’s profile.
